The Master of Science in Telecommunication Systems
Management degree is designed for professionals currently in the
telecommunications field who either wish to enhance their technical
skills and credentials, or who wish to make a transition to the business
side of telecommunications especially to management or marketing. The
disciplines from which applicants are expected to come include computer
science, the physical sciences, mathematics and engineering. The
successful applicant must demonstrate an inherent affinity for
analytical thinking.
The program may be pursued on a part-time or full-time basis. The
program requires that a mix of core required courses and elective
courses be taken. As the core courses are all independent of each other,
the program may be started in any semester.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a completed application form, two confidential
letters of recommendation, application fee of US$50, official
transcripts from all colleges/universities attended, and official scores
of the GRE General Test (unless the GRE has been explicitly waived).
International students must also submit official scores of the TOEFL
examination and a Declaration and Certification of Finances (DCF) Form
(if applicable). Acceptance to the program is granted upon the
recommendation of the program's Graduate Committee after a review of the
completed application.
Candidates for admission are required to have a bachelor's degree from
an accredited college or university. Students who have a BS in
engineering, computer science, mathematics, or the physical sciences
from a US college or university with a GPA of 3.000/4.000 or higher may
request that the GRE requirement may be waived by so indicating in a
letter that accompanies the application for admission.
It is expected that students beginning this program will have an
adequate background in the following areas: C programming language,
probability and statistics, and calculus. A set of prerequisite courses
is available to bridge any gap in the technical background. All
prerequisite courses must be taken unless waived by petition.
