Abstract:

Professor Yegian has been involved in reconnaissance efforts directed at assessing earthquake- induced damages to constructed facilities and evaluating reconstruction plans of the devastated communities. Following the earthquakes of Spitak, Armenia (1988), Manjil, Iran (1990), Erzincan, Turkey (1991), and Northridge, California (1994), he surveyed the damaged regions and gathered data to understand the impact of the earthquakes on the built environments and to improve the earthquake engineering state-of-knowledge and practice.
