About QPRL

The Quality and Productivity Laboratory conducts theoretic and applied research in statistical quality control, experimental design, process improvement, and probabilistic optimization in a wide range of industrial and service applications. Recent projects have focused on statistical characterization of powdered metal production processes, healthcare quality and patient safety, optimal cancer screening policies, statistical process control methods for rare events, experimental design in the printed circuit board industry, inspection error and multiple inspection cost models, and new approaches to multi-response optimization.

The lab maintains collaborative relationships with several associates from academia and industry, with funding for past and current research from the National Science Foundation, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, NIH, and industry partners. Various QPL members hold joint appointments, Board positions, associations or editorial positions with the Institute of Industrial Engineers, Society for Health Systems, Raytheon's Six Sigma Institute, Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and numerous professional journals. Please feel free to contact us if we can be of any assistance.
