Miriam Leeser is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University. She received her BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, and Diploma and Ph.D. Degrees in Computer Science from Cambridge University in England. After completion of her Ph.D., she joined the faculty of Cornell University, Department of Electrical Engineering. In January, 1996 she joined the faculty of Northeastern University, where she is Director of the Northeastern University Reconfigurable Computing Laboratory (RCL) and a member of the Computer Engineering group. In 1992 she received an NSF Young Investigator Award. Throughout her career she has been funded by both government agencies and companies, and is currently funded by DARPA, the NSF, Google, and Mathworks. She has served on the Mathworks industrial advisory board for more than five years. She is associate editor of the ACM Transactions on Reconfigurable Systems, the EURASIP Journal on Embedded Systems, and the International Journal of Reconfigurable Computing. She is a senior member of ACM, a senior member of IEEE and a senior member of SWE.


Dr. Miriam Leeser is the Director of the Northeastern University Reconfigurable Computing Laboratory (RCL). Details of her projects and publications are available on the lab web page. Her research focuses on:

  • Graphics Processing Units (GPUs)
  • Software Defined Radio, implementations for wireless technology and IoT
  • Programming paradigms for heterogeneous computers

  • Reproducibility in high performance computing

  • National Science Foundation National Young Investigator Award, 1992.
