The Virtual Environments Laboratory
Welcome to the Northeastern University Virtual Environment Laboratory (VELAB). The VELAB is one of the world's leaders in developing 3D virtual environments to support driving simulators. We build both large, photorealistic environments that render at fast frame rates, and sequences of scenarios that enable the activating and controlling of intelligent autonomous agents (such as vehicles and pedestrians). The software outputs numerous driver performance measures and can be used to train novice drivers and evaluate older and medically impaired drivers.
The VELAB Simulations are developed using C/C++, OpenGL and SDL Libraries for best performance and ease of deployment on diffrent operating system platforms
