SMTP authentication for Microsoft Outlook Express 6

  1. Inside of Microsoft Outlook Express Click on the "Tools" in the tool bar and Click "Accounts"


  1. imap.coe.neu.edu should be highlighted (if not click on it) and click on the "Properties" button on the right.


  1. Click on the "Servers" tab. Check the box next to "My outgoing server requires Authentication". Make sure the radio button next to "Use same settings as my imcoming mailserver is highlighted


  1. Click on the "Advanced" tab. Next to "Outgoing (SMTP) put in the 587 port number and under that check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".
    Next to "Incoming (IMAP)" put in the 993 port number and under that check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".


  1. Click on the "IMAP" tab and add mail/ next to the "Root folder Path"
    Then click "Ok"


  1. Click "Close"
