Faculty Leader: Prof. Annalisa Onnis-Hayden

Academic Program Details: The two courses will explore the engineering, science, environmental impacts, and policy issues pertinent to waste management in different European countries, which have some of the world most advanced systems in regard to waste management. These interdisciplinary courses will focus on building understanding of sustainable waste management practice, technologies and policy and how they can impact the environment. Emphasis is on how waste material can be turned into new material and energy, and how impacted land can be remediated. This program will incorporate visits to multiple waste management facilities (with special regard to energy and resources generation from waste) and will be meeting industrial leaders who pioneered these technologies.
