Collaboration sits at the center of the Behnisch practice, guiding the way we work and influencing the spaces that we design. Using the term collaborate as a lens, this talk will showcase projects designed to foster collaboration, while discussing how Behnisch works together with clients to produce buildings that are healthy, inviting, innovative, and very much their own.

BIO:

Abigail Ransmeier joined Behnisch Architekten’s Stuttgart Germany office in 2006, and has, since then, held leadership roles on key institutional and higher education buildings both in the US and in Europe. Recently, she led the classroom programming and teaching space design for Harvard University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), in Allston. At Behnisch, she works to translate her clients’ values into forward-thinking design concepts that let them celebrate their own identities.

Abigail is also an educator. She has instructed architecture studio courses investigating brick and wood construction at the University of Stuttgart’s Institute for Building Construction and Design, and currently teaches a section of Comprehensive Design Studio at Northeastern University. In addition, she delights in sharing her love for craft and construction with her own two daughters and with children at their schools.
