The following information is designed to assist you in answering
questions you may have about starting classes. Check this page often
as we for any updated information which will be helpful to you.
The Fall 2007 Orientation Day for new graduate engineering students
will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2007.
Attendance at this informational session is mandatory for
full-time students and recommended for part-time students.
During the orientation you will be introduced to the department
chairpersons and faculty, along with the staff of the Graduate
School of Engineering. You will also be given information that
you will find useful as you begin your graduate studies. At the
conclusion of the information session, you will be organized into
groups by department and will then (or later by appointment) meet
with your program adviser to devise a program of study. After
your adviser has approved your course selections, you may register
by following the instructions given in the Registrar's
website. Classes begin on Wednesday, September 5, 2007.
The Graduate School of Engineering is prepared to assist you in
your transition to graduate school. Please do not hesitate to
contact my office for any help you may need. We look forward to
meeting you in September.

Information for Accepted Graduate Engineering
Students
The following information should be helpful to you as you prepare
for study at Northeastern:
- University Health and Counseling Services
All full- and 3/4-time college students, and all international
students, must enroll in a health insurance plan. You are automatically
enrolled in NU's chosen plan and will be billed unless you show
proof of comparable coverage. Additionally, all students must
provide proof of immunization and submit documentation of a
physical examination in the last twelve months. Students will
be blocked from registration until this requirement is met.

are required to submit as documentation of a physical examination.
This page also details the immunization requirements for study
within Massachusetts. It is advisable to fulfill this requirement
at the earliest convenience, preferably prior to your arrival
at Northeastern.
- Financial Aid
Northeastern offers various forms of financial aid to help you
cover the costs of your graduate education. Graduate assistantships,
determined on the basis of department recommendations, provide
stipends and/or tuition remission for full-time students. For
information on Financial Aid Programs, other than assistantships,

- Tuition and Fees
The tuition rate for the Graduate School of Engineering is $1,050
per semester hour of credit for the academic year 2007-2008.

- Division of Cooperative Education and Career Services
Career Services and the Division of Cooperative Education offers
comprehensive career planning services that support all members
of the Northeastern University graduate community in identifying,
planning and pursuing career decisions and Co-op placements.
Students can apply for Co-op placement during their first semester.

- International Student and Scholar Institute
The International Student and Scholar Institute (ISSI) provides
many valuable services to international students, including
assistance with immigration matters. The ISSI produces I-20
and DS2019 certificates of eligibility and authorizes international
students to work on campus, if eligible. International students
must complete and return the ISI/DCF form to the Graduate School
of Engineering before a certificate of eligibility is issued.
The ISSI will mail the appropriate certificate to students.

The Graduate School of Engineering office and most other offices
at Northeastern University are open Monday through Friday 8:30
AM to 4:30 PM during
the academic year. Summer hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00
AM to 5:15 PM.
