The
Graduate School of Engineering offers a Master of Science
Degree and a Graduate Certificate in Information Systems.
These programs are designed for students and professionals
who wish to make a career shift to the information systems
field, or for professionals currently in the field who
wish to enhance their skills and credentials. Both programs
provide knowledge of information technology as well as
essential skills needed in information technology positions.
Students in these programs come from a variety of disciplines
including liberal arts, life sciences, physical sciences,
computer science, mathematics, business, and engineering.
The successful applicant to either program must demonstrate
an inherent affinity for analytical thinking. Students
may pursue either program on a full- or part-time basis,
and may apply any courses taken for the Graduate Certificate
towards the Master of Science degree.
Students in both programs are expected to have an adequate
background in programming and basic probability theory.
Foundational coursework in these fields is available to
students to bridge any gap in their technical backgrounds.
However, credits for these courses will not count towards
the degree.
Many of the courses for the Master’s Degree and
the Graduate Certificate programs are available on-line
via streaming video. More information is available on-line
at www.coe.neu.edu/gse/streaming_video.html.
