2 COE teams are MassChallenge Finalists
MassChallenge, one of the world’s largest equity-free accelerators, unveiled the 26 startups that will compete for a share of $1.5 million in equity-free cash at this year’s awards ceremony in November. Two of these 26 ventures are from COE: 3DFortify founded by MIE Assistant Professor Randall Erb and PhD student Josh Martin and QSM Diagnostics founded by ChE Associate Professor Edgar Goluch.
3D Fortify is a materials company that uses patented magnetic alignment technology to create the most complex composites to date, while QSM uses a proprietary instrument-sensor to identify common infectious bacteria in bodily fluids within one minute at the point-of-care. There were over 3000 applications for the 2016 cohort from companies all over the world, of whom 126 companies were selected for participation in the accelerator. Of these 26 have been chosen to compete in the final round and this is a significant accomplishment for 3DFortify and QSM Diagnostics.
