2 New Minors Available

The College of Engineering is pleased to announce two new minors in Computational Data Analytics and Entrepreneurial Engineering.

The Computational Data Analytics minor degree program, offered by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, provides a coherent technical foundation in the fundamentals and application of data analytics. The 5-course minor addresses the growing demand in industry to be able to apply background in probability/statistics, calculus, engineering problem solving, computing and analytical principles/tools to identify patterns and trends, find clusters and outliers, characterize and summarize the mountain of data being generated in our world. The program is open to all students in STEM fields at Northeastern, and will provide students with background ready to pursue careers in big data analytics.

The Entrepreneurial Engineering Minor is designed for the technology-minded entrepreneur who seeks to understand disciplinary fundamentals, assess market needs, create technologies, and determine how to manufacture solutions sustainably and economically. The course requirements for the minor are designed to incorporate both engineering elements (product development and prototyping) and creative elements (product design), along with market and societal considerations (customer discovery and needs assessment). The elective option provides an opportunity to specialize in one of three areas: manufacturing, design, or venture creation. Versions of this minor are available for both engineering and non-engineering majors.
