ECE PhD Students Win RESNA Student R&D Competition
ECE PhD students Matt Higger and Fernando Quivira have won first place in the RESNA Student R&D Competition with their project, Shuffle Speller: User-Adaptive Spelling. This system was primarily developed as part of Higger's PhD dissertation, in collaboration with assistive technology expert clinicians at OHSU in Portland, Ore.
Part of the prize money will be used for Higger and Quivira to attend RESNA 2017 in July and present this work; the remaining part will be used towards developing a prototype for a related concept.
Both of these students are under the direction of Professor Deniz Erdogmus.
