Kirda Receives NSF Grant

ECE and CCS Associate Professor Engin Kirda was awarded a $486K NSF grant to develop tools to automatically detect when a malicious bot is trying to connect to a computer host. He is the director of the Northeastern Information Assurance Institute. 

Previously, Professor Kirda was tenured faculty at Institute Eurecom (Graduate School and Research Center) in the French Riviera and before that, faculty at the Technical University of Vienna where he co-founded the Secure Systems Lab. His lab has now become international and is distributed over five institutions and geographical locations. His current research interests are in systems, software and network security (with focus on Web security, binary analysis, malware detection).
