ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The Master of Science in Telecommunication Systems Management degree is
designed for professionals currently in the telecommunications field who
either wish to enhance their technical skills and credentials, or who wish
to make a transition to the business side of telecommunications especially
to management or marketing. The disciplines from which applicants are expected
to come include computer science, the physical sciences, mathematics and
engineering. The successful applicant must demonstrate an inherent
affinity for analytical thinking.
The program may be pursued on a part-time or full-time basis. The
program requires that a mix of core required courses and elective courses
be taken. Although there are some dependencies among the core courses, the program
may be started in either the Fall or Spring semester. However,
students are encouraged to begin the program in the fall semester if at
all possible.
Applicants must submit a completed application form, two confidential letters
of recommendation, application fee of US$50, official transcripts from all
colleges/universities attended, and official scores of the GRE General Test
(unless the GRE has been explicitly waived). International students, whose native language is not English,
must also submit official scores of the TOEFL examination and a Declaration
and Certification of Finances (DCF) Form (if applicable). Acceptance
to the program is granted upon the recommendation of the program's Graduate
Committee after a review of the completed application.
Candidates for admission are required to have a 4-year bachelor's degree from an
accredited college or university. Students with a BS in engineering,
computer science, mathematics, or the physical sciences from a US college
or university with a GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher may request that the GRE requirement
be waived. A letter requesting a waiver should be uploaded as an attachment to
the online application.
It is expected
that students beginning this program will have an adequate background in
the following areas: C or C++ programming languages, probability and statistics,
and differential and integral calculus. A set of prerequisite courses is available to bridge
any gap in the technical background.
