CORE COURSES

The core courses provide the essential knowledge base required by a graduate of the Master's program in Telecommunication Systems Management.  This knowledge base includes an understanding of:

•  the breadth of the field of telecommunications, both wireline and wireless;
•  data networking protocols and architecture, particularly the Internet;
•  public policy and economic issues specific to the telecommunications industry;
•  the underlying physical infrastructure of the network; and
•  an introduction to business management.

A maximum of two of the core courses may be waived - and only if a student has taken similar course material at another university.  Students should apply for such waivers during their first semester at Northeastern.

There are no formal prerequisites for TSMG 5310, TSMG 5330 and TSMG 5340.  However, it is assumed that students taking TSMG 5310 and TSMG 5330 have an adequate background in the following areas: C or C+ programming languages, probability and statistics, and differential and integral calculus.  Please note that both TSMG 5310 and TSMG 5330 are prerequisites for TSMG 5320.
