RESOURCES

- Orientation

The Fall Orientation Day for new graduate engineering students is held during the week before fall classes begin.  Attendance at the informational session is mandatory for full-time students and recommended for part-time students.  During the orientation you will be introduced to department chairpersons and faculty, along with staff of the Graduate School of Engineering.  You will also be given information that you will find useful as you begin your graduate studies.  At the conclusion of the information session, you will be organized into groups by department or program and will then meet with the TSM program advisor to develop a program of study.  After your advisor has approved your course selections, you may register for classes.

There is no official orientation during Spring semester.  New students should plan to meet with the TSM program advisor before registering for any classes.

Further information on orientation is available at http://www.coe.neu.edu/gse/newStudents.html.

- MyNeu Account

Students can create their MyNeu accounts using their SSN and permanent ZIP code.  International students can use the 4-digit temporary SSN provided in their admissions letter and ZIP code of 02115 to create their MyNeu account.  After they arrive at Northeastern and get clearance from ISSI, they will get their 9-digit Northeastern ID.

 - University Health and Counseling Services

All full- and 3/4-time college students, and all international students, must enroll in a health insurance plan.  You are automatically enrolled in NU's chosen plan and will be billed unless you show proof of comparable coverage.  Additionally, all students must provide proof of immunization and submit documentation of a physical examination in the last twelve months.  Students will be blocked from registration until this requirement is met.  Please contact the University Health and Counseling Services 617.373.2772, or see their website for further information: www.neu.edu/uhcs/.

 - International Student and Scholar Institute (ISSI)

The International Student and Scholar Institute (ISSI) provides many valuable services to international students, including assistance with immigration matters.  The ISSI produces I-20 and DS2019 certificates of eligibility and authorizes international students to work on campus, if eligible.  International students must complete and return the ISI/DCF form to the Graduate School of Engineering before a certificate of eligibility is issued.  The ISSI will mail the appropriate certificate to students.  The ISSI also assist international students with regard to co-op authorization procedures, pre-OPT, and OPT after prior approval from the Graduate School.  For more information, visit their website: http://www.northeastern.edu/issi/
