TSM COURSES
The TSM core courses are not offered in every semester so students need to plan accordingly. TSMG 5310, Fundamentals of Communication Systems, is generally offered every Fall semester, while TSMG 5320, Telecommunications Architecture and Systems, and TSMG 5340, Telecommunications Public Policy and Business Management, are generally offered in the Spring semester only. The fourth core course, TSMG 5330, Data Networking, is usually offered in both Fall and Spring semesters.
TSM electives are offered at most once in each academic year. Note that TSM electives in Telecom Networking have TSMN as department code, while electives in Telecom System Management and Telecom Business Management have, respectively, TSMS and TSMB as department codes.
TSM Special Topics courses (usually with course number 6600, i.e., TSMN 6600, TSMB 6600, TSMS 6600) are offered occasionally. The syllabus for a Special Topics course is generally available on this web site and on the GSE web site (under the Schedules tab).
Independent Study projects - with course number 5978, i.e., TSMN 5978, TSMB 5978, TSMS 5978 - are sometimes available. Please check with the TSM program director. Students need to have their project proposal (usually for one credit, occasionally two) approved prior to registration. Approval needs to be obtained from both the program director and the professor supervising the project.
